Chef Ryan Pike & Crew

With over 35 years experience, Chef May has worked in some of the finest hotels North America has to offer; most notable being his experience with Fairmont Hotels, Westin Hotels, and Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver. Upon completing his apprenticeship in 1989 at the Constellation Hotel in Toronto, he decided to move out west to the Chateau Whistler in 1990. After making stops in Calgary and Vancouver along the way, he eventually found himself on the wild coast of Tofino in 1998. He was tasked with opening the remote and renowned Clayoquot Wilderness Resort where he successfully created a high-end food experience as Executive Chef until 2011. His next adventure was the creation of RedCan Gourmet in Tofino alongside his wife, Sandy. Together they created a catering service specializing in West Coast gourmet for groups of 300 people to intimate dinners for 6. His take-out restaurant on Industrial Road is a popular eatery for locals and visitors alike, servicing coastal weddings, private parties, and the local lunch bunch. Chef May is also currently a partner with the Legacy Tourism Group, supporting First Nation communities with the development of economic opportunities through tourism initiatives. When not in the kitchen, you’ll find this husband and father, of two budding athletes, on the road, the rugby field or in the hockey rink.
